The Wyre Forest National Nature Reserve suffered horrendously during the storms of June and July 2007.
After a detailed survey by Philip Mackey & Associates, Natural England decided that four dams and two culverts needed major repair, three culverts needed minor repairs and an access track required construction.
Our tender of £250,000 was accepted and we began on site in February 2008. The Wyre Forest is a very environmentally sensitive area and great care was essential in carrying out the repairs. As a result, Frank Birch himself decided to take on the role of site foreman and by the end of June the dams were all complete.
The four dams have been stabilized on the back face by means of stone filled gabions and rocky infill and after desilting are shown on the following photographs.
