The valley of Mochdre Brook is very picturesque but the flow in the brook itself can be extremely powerful during periods of heavy rain.
Our contract was to safeguard the banks abutting the ancient Mochdre Mill. A combination of limited access and extremely hard river bed rock meant that the choices of erosion protection were limited and in this extreme case, stone-filled gabions were chosen for the purpose.
The work was carried out in April 2009 and during extremely dry conditions produced a saving on the quoted sum.
